Curled chervil is an annual plant that is related to parsley. It can be used in cooking like parsley, although it has a stronger flavor that is great for kicking up the taste in more mild dishes. Curled chervil is an especially decorative variety of the chervil plant. It will produce small, white flowers with leaves that are similar to parsley in appearance.
Curled chervil is generally resistant to disease and insects.
Planting, Growing, and Harvesting:
Curled chervil likes a little shade and soil that is light, fertile, and well-drained. Keep chervil well-watered. To plant, sow seeds directly into the ground and keep the soil moist. The plant will grow between 1 and 2 feet high.
Curled chervil will be ready to harvest about 6 weeks after planting. To harvest, simply pick the leaves and use them in recipes.
Recipes/How to Use:
Chervil makes a beautiful garnish. It can also be used to flavor various dishes such as salads, eggs, meats, soups, stews, and vegetables. It is used often in French cooking.
