All about… Amish Paste Tomato

03 . July .2013admin0 Comments

The Amish Paste Tomato is a productive heirloom variety that was discovered in Wisconsin and originated in Pennsylvania. This paste tomato (meaning a tomato with few seeds that is especially suitable for pastes and sauces) is perfect for cooking or eating fresh. It has a wonderful flavor—sweet, not too acidic, and juicy.

Amish Paste is a good choice for those who like to can tomatoes, or turn them into sauces, soups, and pastes. Tomatoes that contain a lot of seeds and aren’t solid enough are much more difficult to process successfully. Amish Paste was developed to be easy to use for these purposes.

These tomatoes are plum-shaped and grow to be up to 12 ounces. The indeterminate vines are quite productive and grow fruits in clumps of 2-4 red-orange tomatoes.
