Packman Hybrid Broccoli is a high-yielding, easy to harvest broccoli that can handle warmer weather. Packman’s large heads and florets are tender and mild in flavor, with side shoots that keep producing on the plant after you pick them. This is a great variety for freezing.

Broccoli is a cool-season plant and does well in early spring and fall. It is a member of the cabbage family and is related to cauliflower. This dark green vegetable is high in vitamins A and C, as well as calcium, iron, and riboflavin. It is a very versatile vegetable and can be enjoyed raw or cooked.

    Planting, Growing, and Harvesting:

Broccoli likes cool weather, so you can expect it to do well in the spring and fall. Plant seeds in well-drained, rich soil in a location that will get full sun. A soil pH around 6.0-6.5 is recommended. Make sure broccoli receives adequate moisture, especially in drought conditions. Broccoli benefits from a good fertilizer.

When broccoli is ready to harvest, the heads will be 3-6” around. Cut the heads from the main stem about 6 inches below the head. If the plant has gone to flower, it is too late to harvest broccoli. Store broccoli in the refrigerator for about 5 days, or blanch and freeze for later use.

    Recipes/How to Use:

Use broccoli raw or cooked in all kinds of recipes: salads, casseroles, stir-fries, soups, or just by itself.
