Germination: 5 to 8 days at 70 to 85 F. Plant seeds 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep leaving 3 inches between plants and 18 to 24 inches between rows.

These sweet, tender beans grow tall and yield all the way up to the first frost. The 6-7 inch pods are smooth, straight, and perfect for canning. Blue Lake Pole Beans are vitamin rich and very flavorful.

Pole beans are known for their high yields for the amount of space needed. These beans are grown up a tall support and are easy to harvest.

    Planting, Growing, and Harvesting:
Once the danger of frost is passed, plant seeds directly in the ground outside. If the temperature is too cold (under about 60F) the plant may suffer, causing poor germination and yield. Prepare some kind of support (such as a trellis, a fence, poles, etc) for the bean plants to grow on. Plant in full sun, taking care not to block other plants from sunlight with the bean supports.

Plant the seeds in well-drained, fertile soil. Keep the ground moist until germination occurs.

To harvest, pick the green beans when they grow about 5” long. For shell beans, allow the pods to mature on the vine, then dry.
